The 24 Days of Christmas – Day 14

December 14, 2009

As we all know, Christmas is fast approaching and as we all also know, many of you will be struggling to think of interesting gift ideas for your nearest and dearest. ‘What shall we buy to show our love?!’ we hear you cry. Well, fear not, for we at the Fold know that sometimes, thinking beyond the usual DVD boxsets/smellies/Xbox games can be a little difficult, and so over the course of December we endeavour to bring you a new gift idea each day on the run-up to Christmas, totalling 24, and with each one we shall also bring you an accompanying song that somehow represents the gift in some way. ‘Gift ideas and related entertainment?!’ we hear you now crying! ‘How on Earth do they manage it?!’

Day #14 – Freeloader Pro

free

Technology as we all know is becoming more and more advanced and subsequently, more taxing on the battery life. There’s nothing worse (okay, famine) than having that classic tune fade into obscurity just before the drop – leaving you bouncing around aimlessly like a deaf chimp. Well never again! Grab the Freeloader Pro, attach the relevant adapter and look for the sun.

Here is a little overview:

Freeloader Pro is the ultimate solar charger capable of powering virtually every electrical device, anywhere in the world, whether on a beach, a mountain, jungle or the Polar ice cap.

Freeloader Pro uses its high power solar panels or USB (cable supplied) to quickly charge its internal battery (7 – 9 hours in sunny conditions). Once fully charged Freeloader Pro is capable of delivering enough power to give a mobile phone 70 hours of standby time, 5000 page turns on an eBook or a 100% full charge for a digital camera battery.

Also by switching its Multi voltage switch to “9.5v” Freeloader Pro is capable of charging power hungry, high voltage devices such as MP4 players, portable DVD players and SLR camera batteries.
The metallic push button “Power Halo” indicates how much power is in Freeloader Pro’s battery.

Made in tough aluminium and finished in a stylish “piano” black, Freeloader Pro is the perfect companion for adventure travellers, journalists, explorers, expeditions, the armed forces and anyone who demands the best!

For those intrigued; you can pick it up right here.

And for your viewing pleasure today, Missy, Nicole Wray and Mc Solaar. Remember this one? Zig Zag Zig Zag….

Day #13 – Super Mario Chess Set

super mario chess set

I could talk about the combination of a beloved franchise with the thinking man’s Playstation. But I won’t. I could talk about the beautifully crafted figures and the joy this gift could bring to both young and old. But I won’t.

Look at that picture again. Closer.

Yeah, Luigi is the queen – not Princess. I always thought they were brothers; the moustache should have been the give away I suppose.

Joking aside, this looks like a great family gift and in the age of waggling motion sticks and weight boards, a bit more lateral thinking wouldn’t go amiss. Plus Gza would approve (no homo).

Here is the description. What exactly is a classic Mario pose? Apparently the one above.

This chess set is the first and only chess set that features the most beloved and popular Super Mario characters in their classic poses, making this a must-have for every Nintendo fan!

The chess board and pieces feature unique designs, taken directly from the Super Mario video game franchise. The 32 hand-painted figurines include including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Toad, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Birdo, Goomba, and Magikoopa, and come packaged in a collectible tin!

Purchases can be made here.

As for the music – there could only be one tune. Enjoy.

The 24 Days of Christmas – Day 11

Day #11 – Dane-Elec Z-Pen

zpen

I actually own one of these. I would say it would be very useful for someone who has legible penmanship. Alas, not this lefty.

This bulky little pen may not look that impressive at first glance, but it has some very serious credentials. Still confused – here’s what it does:

The Zpen by Dane-Elec is composed of a pen and a receiver.

It will allow you to:

WRITE with the pen, on any kind of paper
(with the receiver on top of your page)

DOWNLOAD your handwritten notes on your PC
and view them on screen.

FIND keywords back on your handwritten notes.

CONVERT your handwritten notes in digital text,
to use it on your standard word processing.

That’s right, it converts your notes into text format. A perfect gift for the apathetic student or gadget obsessed sibling.

At 65 quid it’s a reasonable sum. Pick one up here.

The chosen song speaks for itself. Were pretty limited when it comes to songs about pens, but the Beatle’s gave it a bloody good go.

S’easy.

Day #9: Pin Art Thingy

When I was younger, I was fascinated by my older cousin’s pin art box. For some reason, it was cool, in an unattractive, weird kind of way. Like smoking, or fancying Simon Cowell. Repeatedly imprinting your face in a box of needles held somekind of special power over me. Had I had one of these, I doubt I’d be the kind of go-getting self-facilitating media node I am today.

Just don’t share one. Those pins are prone to sinking into a snotty nostril or two. Instead, why not buy it for a loved one, cue up the tune below and insist they leave some seriously brilliant facial impressions whilst attempting to mime along.
