How To Train Your Dragon Trailer

December 30, 2009

DreamWorks has quietly debuted a second full-length trailer for their upcoming release, How to Train Your Dragon. DreamWorks clearly isn’t convinced that How to Train Your Dragon will sell on its own merits. Hence the elaborate intro with footage from all of their past movies. Hardly a strongest selling point but I was sold at Dragons anyway.

Heres the trailer:

Toy Story 3

If you’ve not been following news on the upcoming Toy Story film. The premise is thus, Andy (the kid) has grown up and gone to college; leaving his old box of toys to be donated to local nursery.

Pixar have a knack for the nostalgia recently. I believe they really are developing a craft for storytelling through image and image alone. Following the beautiful opening montages in both Wall-E and Up! Pixar are beginning to set near impossible marks for their counterparts to compete with.

Throughout, the animation looks wonderful. Im not quite sure why I’m so impressed with the few scenes they showed of the mature Andy (still voiced by the original actor John Morris.). I think there’s something in his movement that really captures that age well. Pixar’s human animation has become better and better. This latest effort could possibly be the least cartoony animation they have ever made. But has the series grown up alongside the ikkle kiddies that watched the originals? or will it be more of the same with a 3d stamp of approval? We’re gonna have to wait a while to get that answer…..

Expect Toy Story 3 on June 18th 2010 stateside and whenever they feel like tossing it over to the limeys.

Kojimba

I came across these beautiful animations while browsing at the creatives on Drawn!. Kajimba is an upcoming animated series; aimed at the older market. There will be 26 mini episodes featuring animals from the Australian outback.

The Plot:

“Kajimba is a dry and dusty place way out in the middle of Australia, and when we say way out, we’re talking a bloody long way from anywhere. Built right in the middle of all this nothing is the Kajimba hotel, and this is the story of all the folk within.”

The Protagonists:

“While officially classified on government record as uninhabited, Kajimba is the only drinking hole for miles around, so it collects all the lost and thirsty souls who were brave (or stupid) enough to venture out here in the first place. In other words, the beer is cold. Click here to meet some of the characters.”
