‘1UP’, the Super Mario sampling smash by Royal T has undoubtedly been the stand out Grime track of 2009. Having been hammered by some of the countries biggest DJ’s over the past few months, lacing both radio sets and live shows, 1UP finally sees a digital release through seminal Grime label No Hats No Hoods on 28th December.

Written by 19 year old Mark Taylor, a bedroom producer from Southampton, this much- anticipated debut EP features a host of fiery instrumentals that through DJ spins alone, have garnered interest from key industry players like Westwood, Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and P-Money. The latter even licensed title track ‘1UP’ for his own stand-out mixtape, Money Over Everyone.

Whilst this year has undoubtedly been Royal T’s, next year looks set to be even bigger with even more releases and appearances planned. The venomous and frenetic production on the ‘1UP’ EP will not only justify the hype but position him as one of Britain’s most exciting musical talents, and the one to watch in 2010.

The ‘1UP’ digital EP is released on the 28th December on iTunes. Remixes come courtesy of Bok Bok, Martin Kemp and Silencer, each a key player in their respective field. Bok Bok has recently released the ‘Night Slugs EP’ alongside L Vis 1990 on Dress to $weat records, Martin Kemp’s latest release ‘No Charisma’ was supported by Gilles Peterson, Cooly G and Kode 9, and Grime stalwart producer Silencer has, this year alone, worked with Jammer, Lethal B, and Tempa T.

Big up Royal T.
