The 24 Days of Christmas – Day 6

As we all know, Christmas is fast approaching and as we all also know, many of you will be struggling to think of interesting gift ideas for your nearest and dearest. ‘What shall we buy to show our love?!’ we hear you cry. Well, fear not, for we at the Fold know that sometimes, thinking beyond the usual DVD boxsets/smellies/Xbox games can be a little difficult, and so over the course of December we endeavour to bring you a new gift idea each day on the run-up to Christmas, totalling 24, and with each one we shall also bring you an accompanying song that somehow represents the gift in some way. ‘Gift ideas and related entertainment?!’ we hear you now crying! ‘How on Earth do they manage it?!’

S’easy.

Gift idea #6: The Nixon Newton Watch.

null

Everyone loves a nice watch. Except that whenever you get a watch as a present its always one of those really nice and quite obviously expensive ones that you save ‘for best’. As a result it sits in its case, in a drawer, being neglected and unused purely because you’re waiting for that special occasion when the Queen or an Ambassador comes to visit.

Not so with the Newton. Aside from its striking and modern looks that replace the conventional hands with rotating dots, it’s casual enough that you’ll want to wear it all day, every day – and coming as it does in a veritable rainbow of different colour options, there’s something to suit any taste, any look or any outfit.

Personally, I love watches like this. Far too many stick with the same old analog or digital format and it’s nice to see some different designs coming forward to reshape their design for the 21st Century. My favourite watch is one by Kede that cost me around £12 off eBay, and the reason I love it is because nobody apart from me can tell the time on it… its unusual and always gets people asking about it. Hopefully, the Newton will do the same for you.

Available from Streetgadgets.com or the Nixon website (although at the time of writing most colours were sold out)

But what song to go for? ‘Newton’ doesn’t really give you many options… Newton Faulkner? Olivia Newton-John? Oh hell no. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Jay-Z, Dr. Dre & Rakim – The Watcher.
