How To Train Your Dragon Trailer

December 30, 2009

DreamWorks has quietly debuted a second full-length trailer for their upcoming release, How to Train Your Dragon. DreamWorks clearly isn’t convinced that How to Train Your Dragon will sell on its own merits. Hence the elaborate intro with footage from all of their past movies. Hardly a strongest selling point but I was sold at Dragons anyway.

Heres the trailer:

Royal T – 1UP EP OUT TODAY!

December 28, 2009

As the title may suggest, 1UP EP (digital release) is out today! Buy from all good digital outlets, and if you haven’t already done so, cop the three FREE downloads he’s put up on here over the past three days!

‘1UP’, the Super Mario sampling smash by Royal T has undoubtedly been the stand out Grime track of 2009. Having been hammered by some of the countries biggest DJ’s over the past few months, lacing both radio sets and live shows, 1UP finally sees a digital release through seminal Grime label No Hats No Hoods on 28th December.

Written by 19 year old Mark Taylor, a bedroom producer from Southampton, this much- anticipated debut EP features a host of fiery instrumentals that through DJ spins alone, have garnered interest from key industry players like Westwood, Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and P-Money. The latter even licensed title track ‘1UP’ for his own stand-out mixtape, Money Over Everyone.

Whilst this year has undoubtedly been Royal T’s, next year looks set to be even bigger with even more releases and appearances planned. The venomous and frenetic production on the ‘1UP’ EP will not only justify the hype but position him as one of Britain’s most exciting musical talents, and the one to watch in 2010.

The ‘1UP’ digital EP is released on the 28th December on iTunes. Remixes come courtesy of Bok Bok, Martin Kemp and Silencer, each a key player in their respective field. Bok Bok has recently released the ‘Night Slugs EP’ alongside L Vis 1990 on Dress to $weat records, Martin Kemp’s latest release ‘No Charisma’ was supported by Gilles Peterson, Cooly G and Kode 9, and Grime stalwart producer Silencer has, this year alone, worked with Jammer, Lethal B, and Tempa T.

Big up Royal T.

Royal T is, without doubt, one of the brightest Grime talents to emerge this year. His fast-paced productions contain a ferocious energy that brings the best out of MC’s and DJ’s alike. The 28th of December sees the digital release of his debut, the ‘1UP’ EP on No Hats No Hoods, and to celebrate, the Southampton producer is over the next 3 days uploading a handful of exclusives.

These exclusives are just that and cannot be found anywhere else!

And so, without further a do, today Royal T presents:

This exclusive remix features some of the hardest Royal T production to date. Beneath those OG vocals, the beat switches between breaks and 4/4 throughout, underpinned by some truly disgusting bass.

The 24 Days of Christmas – Days 23 & 24

December 24, 2009

Right, well if you haven’t bought your loved ones anything by now, chances are you never will. That being said, there’s still time, and this last gift is so amazing we had to dedicate the last two days to it.

Days 23-24: The Ariel Atom.

Form following function, race bred design and truly uncompromised performance. This is the Atom. Minimal bodywork, moulded to the highest standards possible, consisting of separate composite panels reduces weight, minimises costs and allows easy access for adjustment of most settings. Developed in the wind tunnel to generate front and rear downforce, with special attention paid to underbody air flow, the bodywork provides stability and precise steering at all speeds.

With its wide track the Atom can accomodate 2 large adults in safety, comfortably solving the space problems usually found in vehicles of this class. The composite twin seat unit, deisgned to be set up for the driver, offers high lateral support and a comfortable driving position.

On the dash housed in a minimal console the compact racing instruments feature stepper motor driven needles with clear, white on black, easy to read faces, LCD readouts for secondary information and all legally required warning lights for road use. A remote, keyless immobiliser allows for an ignition on/kill switch and starter button, ergonomically grouped together with other controls around the steering wheel.

The suspension used in the Atom is unique on a road car and has been derived from current single seat race cars. The suspension is by double unequal length wishbones and inboard, pushrod operated dampers, front and rear. The system features outboard rod ends all round for total adjustability and inboard rubber/metal bushes for compliance and comfort. Coil over dampers front and rear extend the adjustability of the car allowing the Atom to be quickly set up for road or track use or to individual preferences.

The Atom has been designed to be used on the road or the track. Race derived features include adjustable front/rear bias brakes with the option of remote operation while driving, twin brake master cylinders, hydraulic clutch, one and a half turn competition steering rack, adjustable allow pedals and ram air system. It is this thought for detail and lack of compromise that makes the Atom so totally unique.

Even in the standard 1.8 form the Atom’s power to weight ratio exceeds that of a 911 Porsche. The Atom power is from the Rover K Series as used in the MGF and Lotus Elise. Proven in road and competition use the engine and gearbox combines reliability and tuning options with economic servicing and practial ownership. With the performance emphasis of the Atom geared towards acceleration and handling, the power to weight ratio even in standard form exceeds that of most sports cars. In tuned form, capable of giving up to up to 500 bhp/tonne, the Atom approaches the levels of pure racing cars.

And to play us out, for this final time… Merry Christmas everyone.

The 24 Days of Christmas – Day 22

December 22, 2009

As we all know, Christmas is fast approaching and as we all also know, many of you will be struggling to think of interesting gift ideas for your nearest and dearest. ‘What shall we buy to show our love?!’ we hear you cry. Well, fear not, for we at the Fold know that sometimes, thinking beyond the usual DVD boxsets/smellies/Xbox games can be a little difficult, and so over the course of December we endeavour to bring you a new gift idea each day on the run-up to Christmas, totalling 24, and with each one we shall also bring you an accompanying song that somehow represents the gift in some way. ‘Gift ideas and related entertainment?!’ we hear you now crying! ‘How on Earth do they manage it?!’

Day #22 – Lomo Fisheye Camera

An iconic camera. So much has been written about its impact on photography, that to sum it up here would be an exercise in futility. Therefore, those interested can read all about the cheeky bulbous chappy here.

The model above is available from Gadgethub, although you can find various models all over the internet. I saw a rather fetching wooden-panelled one, but it was sold out. For shame.

To play us out, we have Xzibit with, you guessed it, Paparazzi. Lady Gaga can go catch a hot one.

The 24 Days of Christmas – Day 21

Day #21 – Chivas Regal whiskey

chivas

12 years of nurture go into this big beauty of a beverage. That may not sound like much by scotch standards; do not be fooled. I’m sure 4.5 litres later you’ll have your old man whimpering into your arm till the new year, heavily intoxicated and overly reminiscenct. This is the perfect gentleman’s gift, a gift to calm the nerves, warm the soul and hibernate indefinitely. The bottle is too big to be poured, so a cradle is provided to help ease the task. A task which becomes more taxing as the old man transforms into a gibbering mess who decided that 3 litres just wasn’t cutting it.

Buy out the bar and done. Simple’s, as the smug rodent Borat would say.
